Artist: David Hunter
David majored in zoology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, coming away with both a B.A. (1969) and M.A. (1973) in that subject area and illustrating his master’s thesis with pen-and-ink drawings. From the fall of 1973 until the summer of 1978 David taught science at the middle school level. During his fourth year of teaching David needed a mental diversion and turned to art, working in pen and ink since that was the last artistic medium he had worked with.
At the end of that fifth year of teaching David applied for and recieved a year’s leave of absence from teaching, being a full-time teacher on the last day of the school year and a full-time artist on the next day. For the past 26 years David has supported himself and his family through his artwork, having learned the printmaking techniques of etching and monotypes.

Jan currently works out of her studio at her home in central Florida. Her pastel paintings are exhibited throughout the year at leading art festivals across the country and in select galleries. Jan studied painting/drawing, color theory and stain glass design, while pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture at the School of Environmental Design at Louisiana State University.

Since 1981, I've been creating art that stirs the emotions of the viewer; my work is an expression of my soul, and a way of connecting to the world around me. Images in nature, art, and new technology all influence me. I'm especially intrigued by everyday moments that capture my attention, random ideas that erupt in my mind, and words people say that hang in the air.
I'm constantly re-formulating the process of my creative thinking. Experiences - seen, heard or felt - enter my psyche and remained tucked away in my mind until they re-emerge as an inspiration... a piece of art. As a result, my art, like life, ranges from lighthearted and whimsical to intensely symbolic. Imagination is the most powerful tool humans possess.

She is internationally known for her Palm Tree series which involve minimal compositions and a brilliant color palette. In her recent work she has pursued her interest in texture and pattern as well as an interest in the traditional women’s craft of quilt making by adding elements of collage and weaving to her paintings.
