Aida SchneiderArtist: Aida Schneider
My method is direct in approach (no sketching), and in application (color directly onto painting surface without brush or palette). By gestural strokes and marks, I wish to impart the freedom and sense of well-being that occur when I paint.

While the allusions and commentary in my work relate to present day culture and its rapid changes, the symbols I usually employ hearken to my background growing up in an ancient land.

Art by Dana BrownArtist: Art by Dana Brown
I’m a daily painter, popping the top on a Diet Mountain Dew by 9:00am every day. I love morning light and the clarity of a new day, so I usually paint till mid-day and if things are going well, continue until 5:00pm. With my two goofy dogs asleep under the drawing table and the music as loud as they’ll allow, this is a perfect day for me.

Fifteen years ago I made a commitment to grow as an artist. What I lacked in courage I hoped I could make up in determination. I learned quickly it is a self-directed mission toward a self-defined goal requiring desire, discipline, and hours of self-motivation.

Carla DawsonArtist: Carla Dawson
I love color, line, nature, simplicity, travel, and humor. I hate rules. My goal is to take these emotions, use my imagination freely and create paintings that make me smile. Hopefully others will smile with me.

Since 1992 I have been studying and working at finding my niche. I have studied at Washington University; worked in a fine art glass gallery, taken a landscape workshop with Kim English in Aspen, CO; and studied privately with Robert Anthony Ketchens. (I hope to always be a student in some capacity.)  I have also owned and operated a business designing and creating beaded/semi-precious stone jewelry which I exhibited both locally and nationally in juried shows. I now focus solely on oil painting (and my granddaughters) and am finding great satisfaction.

Carol Boucher Fine ArtistArtist: Carol Boucher Fine Artist

Creator of award winning monotypes and pastel drawings. Custom picture framing studio. My background in painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, goauche) has influenced the way I work in oil pastel. Layering multiple colors results in a more painterly look. In my skies, you will notice areas of blended color that resembles oil painting.

As I define it, pastel drawing is a method of mark making in which each line is distinct.

Casey MatthewsArtist: Casey Matthews
My current body of work is primarily mixed media painting, and is a constant discourse between intuitive and non-objective. The process is a marriage of layered acrylic paint, medium, gesso, charcoal, glazes, washes, handmade paper, collage, tissue, spit, and oil on canvas. Gestural sparks of interest are often added with vine charcoal, and collage or spliced text. A typical piece is then sealed and buffed with wax. My intention is to create layers of information through my technique, and combine the bold structure of graphic design and pattern with spontaneous painting; leading your minds eye on an aesthetic journey through the process. Some viewers might consider my work to be “eclectic”; but that is merely superficial. While I relate to a diverse world, the intrinsic nature of my creativity always seems to emerge. I am not a tortured artist, nor are my struggles unique; it really only comes down to what I consider essential characters in my work: The relationship between colors, humor, energy, and lack of intimidation of the sources and materials I draw from.
