Alice OgdenArtist: Alice Ogden
Alice Ogden of Salisbury, New Hampshire is a traditional black ash basketmaker. Considered a master of her trade, she has been making baskets for more than 25 years. Her baskets are especially prized by collectors all over the country for their traditional craftmanship. None of her materials are store bought and each basket is crafted entirely of materials collected from the woods and swamps of New Hampshire and prepared by hand. Alice prepares the logs, strips the splints, and then refines and cuts the splints for basketweaving.

Cheryl ChristensonArtist: Cheryl Christenson
As a basket artisan and designer since 1983, I specialize in the intricacy of tiny baskets, nearly all measuring less than 4 inches, the smallest measuring only 5/8" X 1" at its base! Using predominantly silky smooth black ash for the basket's structure, I weave in a variety of twill patterns, hand-dyed colors, or adornment details, including tiny glass Delica beads, natural plant materials, waxed linen cord, and textured fibers. My line of basketry ornaments and embellished necklaces offer a similar intricate detailing. Since I hand-shape without the aid of molds, no two of my baskets or other creations are exactly alike. Each item is a truly original keepsake or collectible, with my initials and usually the date and my home state initials (if they can be squeezed into a tiny spot!) on its base or back.

George Saridakis - Decoratively Sculpted WoodArtist: George Saridakis - Decoratively Sculpted Wood
My goal is to create wood art that enhances the joy and quality of life with its beauty - both to look at and to touch - and to enjoy the art of designing and working with wood. My designs are inspired by folk art from various cultures and elements of nature. I am currently making pierced lidded bowls, flower vases, and thin delicate ornaments.

George Saridakis, a self-taught wood artisan, always wanted to work with wood. In 1982, he finally realized his dream while making furniture for his home. In 1992, his desire to continue developing his woodworking skills led him to woodturning, and later to scrollsawing. He currently combines both woodturning and scrollsawing using native and exotic woods to create functional and decorative art. A signature of his work is the smooth and lustrous finish.

Larry Richmond PotteryArtist: Larry Richmond Pottery
My current ceramic work continues to show the influence of the Northern California Indian baskets and the time I spent working and teaching on the Hoopa Indian Reservation for the past twenty five years. Almost every culture has passed through a period of technological change from making woven baskets to pottery. The work that I am doing now explores that transition. Using contemporary interpretations of traditional basket shapes and designs, I am searching for a balance between woven materials and clay that is both natural and pleasing.
