I was introduced to knitting in fourth grade, when my teacher gave our class knitting lessons. My passion for knitting has continued through the years.
I view knitting as a process in creating, rather than just as making a product. I enjoy combining colors and textures to create one-of-a-kind “art to wear” pieces.

Having been raised by a strict, first-generation American mother and taught by the nuns, I obeyed every rule - as I did in my quilting – making over two thousand traditionally pieced quilts with a contemporary flavor from 1985 to 1993. A significant departure occurred in 1993 – I began a series of chair quilts - all styles of chairs, comprised of commercial fabrics on hand-dyed backgrounds. Many great painters of the past and present incorporate chairs in their work and it was this painterly quality that I wanted to evoke in fabric. In 1996, the College of Lake County commissioned me to make a large triptych (7'x21') of chairs for their new campus.

Weaving directly on the steel armature ensures exceptional durability, minimal maintenance and ease of installation while allowing the artists a unique exploration of the relationship between sculptural form and the hand-woven surface.
Their background in both art and architecture is appreciated by private collectors, architects and design professionals when working with blueprints, spatial relationships, and collaborative projects. Fowler and Thelen have exhibited their work nationally and are included in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the country.

My work evolves from a life-long love of fibers and an appreciation for quality craftsmanship. Inspired by the world surrounding me, I use color, texture and space to continually explore new techniques. With a background in math, I approach design as a process of creative problem solving, giving attention to every detail.
For me the journey is as important as the final product and my artwear is constructed to give years of pleasure.

My contemporary art work consists of a kind of fiber painting technique that remains unique in that I dye my fiber first, then weave it on a floor loom. Since they are hand dyed, natural color shifts occur by the dyes when changing from one color to another. The fundamental nature of a finished piece provides prominent colors with complimentary accents.
Fiber helps with sound absorption in a home theater setting or business conference room. They look great in a dining room, kitchen, living room, foyer or lobby entrance. Don't be surprised at the sensation and attention they receive.

My fiber artwork celebrates texture, color and the myriad possibilities fiber offers to "paint" an image using fresh and unusual techniques.
My stitched paintings infuse hand-dyed silks and free-motion machine embroidery with my interest in gardening. Using my 30 year-old sewing machine as a noisy paintbrush, I blend and mix colors by layering threads. Painterly effects are created by thousands of stitches. Texture is achieved by determining the movement of the fabric under the needle.

Welcome to the online, fine art gallery for artist, Charlene Marsh, presenting original, plein air, oil, landscape paintings of the deep woods. Charlene Marsh maintains a full time studio in Brown County, Nashville, Indiana, and sells her paintings at shows across the country.
Inspired by the early Brown County painters, the artist hikes 2-4 miles a day into the forest backpacking her supplies to paint these landscapes in all four seasons. Other paintings are done back in the studio based on the plein air paintings. "Plein air" is a French term meaning "to paint in the open air".

Darcy Sparrow Wearable Art is the work of Madison, Wisconsin artist Laurie Rossbach with the assistance of her husband and partner Robert . At our studio in Madison, we produce our luxurious textiles in small batches, dying and printing the fabrics entirely by hand. The garments we create are sewn individually from the hand printed fabric with the highest attention to craftsmanship and detail.
