Retablos are sophisticated folk art in the form of portable boxes filled with brightly colored figurines arranged into intricate narrative scenes. From the 16th to the 19th centuries, Retablos were carried through the mountains by Spanish priests as portable religious shrines for Catholic saints.
Nicario's compositions depict religious, historical and everyday events. His hands move quickly and with confidence to fashion people, animals, and mythical figurines as he creates poignant scenes from a doughy mixture of boiled potato and gypsum powder. For his sculpting process, Nicario's only tool is a small piece of wood resembling an enlarged toothpick.

Hurricane Art Metal, Inc., owned by Holly Olinger, designer, and Pat “Boo” Toms, studio assistant, is a mixed media design studio specializing in production lines and limited editions available to American craft galleries. The primary materials used are metals such as steel, aluminum, or copper and a unique form of cast glass called “dalle de verre”.
A wide range of techniques is used to bring out the beauty of the glass including fire polishing, fusing, casting, slumping over relief molds, and sand carving. Many of the techniques we use to incorporate the glass in our designs are experimental and unique to our studio.

I'm constantly re-formulating the process of my creative thinking. Experiences - seen, heard or felt - enter my psyche and remained tucked away in my mind until they re-emerge as an inspiration... a piece of art. As a result, my art, like life, ranges from lighthearted and whimsical to intensely symbolic. Imagination is the most powerful tool humans possess.

Many know Tricia as a fine art oil painter who paints landscapes and floral works with a style that’s bold and bright with highly textured strokes reminiscent of Van Gogh. Others are familiar with her work as the editorial graphic artist for The Joplin Globe, where she has worked for 23 years.
Courtney has created a whimsical world over the years. Decked out in bright colors with gentle smiles on their faces, the Buzzlewics seem to be a happy, friendly lot, busily enjoying life.

I am a self taught artist working mainly in paper mache. I make my own clay out of shredded papers (office paper,newspaper, etc) I like the idea of making something from nothing, starting from scratch kinda. I like the idea that I am recycling. But mostly I just love making stuff.
I have work in private collections worldwide & sell most of my sculpture at galleries or shows. Each piece is one of a kind & completely handmade.

Artist: Lee Gainer
Lee has always been making art in some way, shape or form since she could hold a pencil. Years and many awards later, this led to a scholarship to attend Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated with a honors degree in Photography. Since then, she's been a portrait photographer for Walt Disney World, run her own photography studio, Hardsun Images (now LeeGainer.com), developed the now defunct Everquack.com, and created freelance graphics and animated shorts.

I love to collage and make zines. i use scraps of paper both vintage and modern. i love bus transfers, maps, the insides of envelopes, old sheet music, vintage ads and paper that just catches my eye. i especially love using recycled materials in my collages.
