Studio Martha CollinsArtist: Studio Martha Collins
My passion is to create personal, unique, 3 dimensional works of art with exotic hardwoods and brightly colored veneers that are hand dyed in my studio. Each piece is carefully constructed using the natural colors, grains and textures of the sustainable yield exotic and domestic hardwoods. This beauty is then captured and framed with the dyed veneer. It is this combination, of the natural and the dyed, that sets my work apart and makes each piece unique.

Currently I am designing and creating bracelets, treasure bowls, table sets and bottle stoppers.

Christina GoodmanArtist: Christina Goodman
Christina Goodman was born in Pisa, Italy, to American parents. She grew up near Washington D.C. and New Orleans, attended Colorado College, and received a Fine Art degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Christina later moved to New York where she studied fashion design and worked for several years as a decorative artist - specializing in gilding and painted finishes.

Christina began her design business in 1990. Her knowledge of decorative art and her passion for Renaissance painting merged into the creation of her own line of hand-painted miniatures and jewelry. She continues to study and utilize 14th - 16th century gilding and painting techniques, as well as Renaissance frame design.

Artist: Ray Jones Woodcrafts
I enjoy making wood boxes, turned or otherwise. A wood box should be just that: wood. So, as much as possible I use only wood in my boxes, including the hinges, fasteners, and drawer slides. I am fascinated by wooden mechanisms, and the intersections of various geometric shapes.

The tremendous variety of woods that exist in the world fascinate me. I try to use sustainably harvested, plantation grown, salvaged, or otherwise "environmentally friendly" woods whenever possible.

I want my boxes to feel as good as they look, so I finish them with a multiple coats of a linseed oil/polyurethane/mineral spirits mixture, and rub them to a silky smooth finish.

Feathered FriendsArtist: Feathered Friends
Adding a touch of the Coast, but with his own personal flair, is Midwest artisan John Freise. He is a native of St. Louis, Missouri who migrated to the beautiful hills of southern Missouri, where he lives with his wife, Susan and family of rescued pets. There he pursues his art of carving and designing birds. His love for nature from an early age has remained constant, and through his journey in life realized that God had given him the gift to find his feathered friends in a piece of wood.

Jay McDougallArtist: Jay McDougall
The process of creating these hand-sculpted vessels begins with acquiring logs from local trees that have fallen due to disease, death, or human encroachment. I have never felled a tree for the sole purpose of gathering material for my work. The tools I employ follow a progression of refinement that is reflective of the work in progress. I begin with logging equipment (a chain saw, winch, cant hook, and steel-toed boots) and culminate with my bare hands, a cotton cloth, oil, and wax.

I never approach a log with a specific finished form in mind. Every one of them holds several forms that are held secret and only revealed by getting inside of it. Once there I travel with the material on a journey the goal being to not totally tame or break it, but to find a balance with the material. This is a point where the intrinsic beauty of the material and the mastery of my craft become blurred, as if they are one. I carve a texture on the underside of some of the vessels in order to create a contrast which serves to enhance the presentation of the figure on the inside of the form. I strive for purity in my designs where less can be more, and have achieved the discipline required to resist overworking the material.

FanTaminalsArtist: FanTaminals
I design and make free-standing, interlocking jigsaw puzzles. I also make a few one-piece Fantasy Creatures which either stand or hang. As of January 26, 2006 , I have 250 items in my “Active” category. My puzzles range in complexity from 3 to 50 pieces, in size from 3" x 5" to 9” x 20”, and in price from $8.00 to $150.00. They are all approximately 1" thick. My creations are divided into six different categories: Dinosaurs, Fantasy, Living Creatures, Landscape, Zodiac, and Other.

After developing a pattern to my satisfaction, I select a board, and glue a copy of the pattern to it. In laying out my patterns I seek to minimize waste, while taking maximum advantage of the natural features of the board. I cut the items out with a scroll saw, and carefully surface- and edge-sand all the pieces. Recently, I started dying some of the pieces in some of my puzzles. I finish all of the pieces with a clear, non-toxic Danish oil.
